Name: Sara L. Blackthorne
Location: Madison, WI
About: I am graduate of the Bemidji State University (Minnesota) Creative and Professional Writing program (December 2005). I have been working as a freelance writer and editor since August of 2005, beginning my work in the academic arena for students and faculty of BSU. I spent time as an intern at Copper Canyon Press (Washington), working under Michael Weigers and Joseph Bednarik.
Since moving to Wisconsin in 2006, I have worked with a wide-range of clients, from small-business owners and self-employed individuals to non-profit organizations and businesses. I have also had many articles and essays considered and published in local and regional publications. I also expanded my freelance to include website design and professional business appearance consulting.
I am excited about devoting more of my time to freelancing, especially in the editing and publishing side. I am also very interested in helping non-profit organizations expand their web and print presences through visibility and marketing tactics. My areas of special interest are poetry, creative nonfiction, memoir and autobiographical writing, academic and intellectual scholarship, and writing that pushes the edges of contemporary social thought.
